Mining in the Upper Swan River and The Great Flume
Local author and historian, Fountain unveils the story of the first mega gold mining operation in the greater Breckenridge mining district, located in the upper Swan River Valley. Follow this historic and photographic story of the Fuller Placer Mining Company and the incredible engineering feat of building and operating a gigantic water flume designed to aid in the area’s extensive hydraulic mining operations. Memorial Day Commemoration

Join the BHA as we honor community members who have died in active military service. This interdenominational service will include a keynote speaker, hymns, and prayers.

Historically Speaking in Milne Park
Summer Saturdays (June-September); 12-1pm
Join BHA guide June Walters for lunchtime talks in Milne Park (corner of Lincoln and Harris) every summer Saturday at noon. Hear how 19th century families lived and learn about Milne Park’s history. Bring your own chair and a sack lunch if you'd like! There is not public parking at Milne Park and guests are not permitted to park along Harris Street. Please park at the Community Center at 103 South Harris Street.

Hike with a Historian Summer Series

In this exclusive summer series, join a local historian on a hike and discussion about various topics of interest. Last summer's topics include railroads and geology, mills and mines, and, of course, GOLD!

Independence Day Parade Party Fundraiser

Support the BHA at our biggest annual fundraiser! Enjoy a buffet breakfast and a mimosa, then watch the parade from one of the best spots in town, the Barney Ford lawn - right on Main Street!

Theobald Award for Historic Preservation

The BHA and Robin and Patty Theobald celebrate historic preservation in the Breckenridge area by honoring a person, business, or project with the Theobald Award each year. We accept nominations from the public in the spring and present the award at a reception in the summer.

Boreas Pass Railroad Day

In collaboration with our friends in Como, we invite you to enjoy the scenic drive over Boreas pass, the route of the C&S line, from the Como Depot to High Line Railroad Park.

Historic Homes Tour Fundraiser

Get an exclusive peek inside some of Breckenridge's privately-owned historic residences that have been preserved on the outside and modernized on the inside. This is a once-per-year offering when homeowners open their doors and allow our tour guests to step inside. Light refreshments included.

Victorian Tea at the Briggle House

Meet Mrs. Kathleen Briggle, a socialite in early Breckenridge, explore her classic Victorian home and enjoy tea and treats. Our teas are great experiences for small groups such as bridal parties, families on holiday, and business groups looking for a unique activity.

Historic Horrors and Halloween Events

In a town as old as Breckenridge, there are bound to be a few spirits lingering from the mining heyday! In 2020, in addition to our regularly scheduled tours, BHA offered additional Breckenridge Haunted Tour and Tombstone Tales at Twilight Tours. Due to public health guidelines, BHA did not host a haunted house or trick-or-treating in 2020.
Santa at the Barney Ford Museum
2020 Santa visits cancelled
Each year Santa visits the Barney Ford Home, decorated for a Victorian Christmas, to listen to children's Christmas wishes. We hope to welcome Santa back in 2021. For more information on the 2020 Lighting of Breckenridge, visit the Breckenridge Tourism Office web site.
