French Gulch Guided Snowshoe Tour

Due to the conditions of the trail at Iowa Hill we have had to cancel our snowshoe tours in the area.  Because of this, the BHA is now offering additional tours in French Gulch on Tuesdays at 1pm & Thursdays at 10am.  This is an abbreviation of our regularly schedule French Gulch tour and is approximately 1.5 hours in length.

Join one of our experienced guides for a tour in French Gulch, the location of dozens of early mining operations.

The trails of French Gulch pass through Breckenridge’s fabled “Golden Horseshoe,” one of Colorado’s most fertile mining regions. The initial strikes here in 1859 gave birth to Breckenridge. For most of the next century, the town’s fortunes were largely driven by the Golden Horseshoe’s output. Dozens of mines were active here at one time or another. Most amounted to nothing; a few yielded huge fortunes.

Allow 2.5 to 3 hours to complete the hike. Please dress warmly, tour takers should plan to wear ski clothing, warm boots (ideally waterproof), a hat and gloves or mittens. Bring water for every member of your group.

Cost

$25/adults, $15 for children 12 and under, $5 discount if you have your own snowshoes. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 970-453-9767 ext 7. Must provide 24hr notice to receive refund on cancellations.
