2021 GUEST INFORMATION

Welcome!  We have carefully considered the health and safety of our guides, museum docents, and guests and will continue to follow all government guidelines and requirements for our sites and activities. Please read the following information and expectations. If you have further questions or concerns, please email us at info@breckheritage.com or call 970-453-9767 x2. Visit the Breckenridge Tourism Office for general information about public health guidelines.

Update: BHA will offer a regular schedule of activities March 1st through April 18th.

Guest Expectations

  • If you feel ill we ask you to refrain from visiting a museum or joining a tour or hike.

  • All guests over the age of 3 are required to wear a face covering (as defined by the Town of Breckenridge) in our museums and on our tours and hikes and will not be permitted to join without one.

  • A limited number of guests are permitted in each museum at a time. Please wait outside until a staff member invites you in.

  • Once in the museum, please respect the 6 foot social distancing guideline (family groups can cluster together).

  • Please be aware that there will be limited capacity on our tours and, unless your group purchases all the tickets for a tour, there may be other guests in your tour group.

  • As has always been the case, no food or beverages are permitted in the museums.

Tours and Hikes

Starting March 1st, BHA will offer a regular schedule of activities. The Gold Mine and Dredge Boat Snowshoe Hike will remain by private request only. Please complete the private tour inquiry form and we will reply with our availability to accommodate your request. Please note that if you have a group larger than 6 people, we may be able to book a private tour with two guides to split the group in accordance with our tour capacities.

Barney Ford Victorian Home and Edwin Carter Discovery Center

Our flagship museums have limited schedules and capacity. There will be two staff members at each site to help assist guests with new procedures and expectations while also ensuring we provide the historic interpretation you expect. There may be spaces/rooms/exhibits that remain closed to the public. Please respect all closed/employee only signs. There are no public restroom facilities at the museums.

Welcome Center Museum - Open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm

The Welcome Center Museum is partially open. Guests can explore the downstairs exhibits and historic cabin portion of the museum. The theater and upstairs remain closed at this time. Our new Time is a River digital historic timeline will run on a loop for guests to experience without touching anything. The Breckenridge Tourism Office will staff the desk in the back (west/river side) of the building to assist guests. There will be no public restroom facilities inside the Welcome Center; BTO staff can direct guests to the nearest public restroom.

Outdoor Exhibits

We offer several outdoor, self-guided exhibits that are open during daylight hours year-round, weather permitting. These include the High Line Railroad Park the Breckenridge Sawmill Museum.

Donations and Tips

All our museums are free to visit and we appreciate donations of any size. We accept cash and text-to-donate contributions at our museums. You can also make an online donation through CO Gives anytime.

Gratuities for tour guides are never expected, but if you enjoyed your experience, they are certainly appreciated. We do not yet have a great alternate way to tip your guide other than with cash. However, if you contact the administrative office at admin@breckheritage.com or 970-453-9767 x2 we can add on a tip using the credit card you booked the tour with.
