Welcome!  We have carefully considered the health and safety of our guides, museum docents, and guests and will continue to follow all government guidelines and requirements for our sites and activities. Update: BHA is currently closed and will reopen for the summer season on June 1st.


Guest Expectations

  • If you feel ill or have any symptoms of COVID-19 we ask you to refrain from visiting a museum or joining a tour or hike. 

  • As has always been the case, no food or beverages are permitted in the museums. 

Tours and Hikes

Starting June 1st, BHA will offer a regular schedule of activities. The Gold Mine and Dredge Boat Hike will remain by private request only. Please complete the private tour inquiry form and we will reply with our availability to accommodate your request.

Barney Ford Victorian Home and Edwin Carter Discovery Center

Starting June 1st, our flagship museums will be open. There may be spaces/rooms/exhibits that remain closed to the public. Please respect all closed/employee only signs. There are no public restroom facilities at the museums. 

Welcome Center Museum

The Welcome Center Museum is currently open Monday - Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Our new Time is a River digital historic timeline will run on a loop for guests to experience without touching anything. There will be no public restroom facilities inside the Welcome Center; BTO staff can direct guests to the nearest public restroom. 

Outdoor Exhibits

We offer several outdoor, self-guided exhibits that are open during daylight hours year-round, weather permitting. These include the High Line Railroad Park the Breckenridge Sawmill Museum.

Donations and Tips

All our museums are free to visit and we appreciate donations of any size. We accept cash and text-to-donate contributions at our museums. You can also make an online donation through CO Gives anytime.

While tips are never expected, if you enjoyed your tour or hike, please consider showing your guide that you appreciate them making your visit special with a gratuity.
