About the tour

The rich and wonderful history of Breckenridge has been researched and recorded by many local experts. In this exclusive summer series, you have the opportunity to enjoy a hike and discussion with these fascinating historians. Below are a few samples of previously offered hikes.

Rocky Point at Boreas Pass with Dr. Sandra Mather

Join Dr. Sandra Mather to hear about the millions of years it took to create the geology at Boreas Pass and around Rocky Point. She'll discuss the influence of geology on the railroad and, in turn, the influence of the railroad on the development of Breckenridge.

Iowa Hill Hydraulic Gold Mine with Rich Skovlin

Join Rich Skovlin to hike through 150 years of gold mining history on the Iowa Hill trail. Rich will explain the remaining equipment along the trail and the mining activities of Iowa Hill. Large gold nuggets from this mine were exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

French Pass - Gateway to the Gold Rush with Rick Hague

Join Rick Hague to explore the history of the area from Lincoln City eastwards to French Pass and the role French Gulch and French Pass played in the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. Along the way, you'll visit an old mill site.
